About Us

About Us
Blackpool Card Game Group is the only place in Blackpool to find fully sanctioned Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh! events. Join us on Tuesdays, 6pm to 8pm, and Saturdays, 5.30pm to 8.30pm, for all-ages card gaming in a friendly, safe environment.

New Players
New players are always welcome and our experienced Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh! volunteers are available to teach newcomers to the TCG. We aim to maintain a fair trading policy and our volunteers are happy to oversee trading. In our spacious venue there is always room for accompanying parents and tea and coffee is on sale.

Touraments
As well as casual play, Blackpool Card Game Group also hosts regular tournaments, with Pokemon POP packs and Yu-Gi-Oh! Turbo Packs available as prizes. Pokemon City Championships and Prerelease events are run by Stef, while Hazel runs Yu-Gi-Oh! Sneak Peeks. We’ll update with details so make sure to check back regularly.

Who are we?
Lavinia (Founder)
Lavinia runs the club and makes sure everything goes smoothly. She oversees entry into the club and makes sure everyone can get home safely after.

Stef (Pokemon Professor)
Stef has been a Pokemon player for five years, making top 16 at Nationals. She has been a Pokemon Organised Play volunteer for four years and has judged tournaments at a regional level. Stef organises Pokemon Prerelease tournaments for each new set, providing a fun way to preview new cards. She is one of a small number of Pokemon Professors in the UK.

Hazel (Yu-Gi-Oh! Judge)
Hazel is a trainee Secondary Science teacher. A Yu-Gi-Oh! player for the best part of a decade, Hazel started playing at 15 and didn’t want to grow out of it. Hazel has been judging events for four years, including the Yu-Gi-Oh! National Championship. She was also on the UDE Demo Team, demoing Yu-Gi-Oh! at events such as Midlands Expo. Hazel has run Sneak Peeks since Cyberdark Impact, a set released in 2006.

Over summer 2009 Stef and Hazel demoed the Pokemon Trading Card Game in seven locations over 23 days as part of the Pokemon Village Fete, and they estimate they gave over 1000 people an introduction to the game.
